Nebraska Upland Bird & Waterfowl Hunting-
Double R Guest Ranch, LLC

Hunt Grouse, Pheasant, Prairie Chicken, Ducks and Geese

Upland Birds: Sharp-tail Grouse, Ring-necked Pheasant, Prairie Chicken, and Mourning Dove are all here and are doing well. The grouse and prairie chicken love the grassy hills and the many shelter belt areas on this Nebraska Ranch. The hunters enjoy the crisp walks through the hills as they pursue these birds. The Ring-neck pheasant is found in the shelter belts, the hills and in the wet land meadows. They all seem to thrive on a variety of seeds, bugs and the grains leftover in the cattle feeders. The Mourning Dove hover around the stock tanks. The more patient hunter will have many shooting opportunities during the day and early evening. It is a pleasant way to spend some time observing the natural order of the wild birds.

Nebraska Historical Site-
The original 1908 sod house has lots of books which you might enjoy reading while here. The sod was preserved with a covering of cement right after the house was finished. You may go in the middle door and look around. It is quite an historic building. The grandparents of the owner homesteaded here in 1908. They built the sod house with the help of the closest neighbors and friends.

The owner's grandfather was a medical doctor/ rancher who served the medical needs of the pioneers all around Cherry County for about 40 years until his death in 1948. The original circa 1910, District 66, One Room Schoolhouse sits over by the lake. You can go inside and look around. It had school for the last time in 1961. Some of the books came with the schoolhouse, as did the desks, and the piano, and one bookcase. The schoolhouse has been refurbished and stores part of the library of books of the family the owner has acquired. You can go in and look around and sign the guest book.

Nebraska Ranch—Waterfowl hunts
